Professor Sheppard earned his Ph.D. degree on the Densification of Atomized Metal Powders from Imperial College, London in 1976 and earned his D.Sc. on the Deformation of Aluminum Alloys at the University of Wales in 1981. He is renowned for his achievement in the extrusion of hard aluminum alloys. Professor Sheppard is the managing director of the Materials Processing Consultant Ltd., providing consultation to the majority of the aluminum companies, notably ALCOA from 1975 to 1990 and Hoogovens Aluminum from 1990 to 1998. He is also the author of more than 270 scientific publications and presentations. Professor Sheppard's new book "Extrusion of Aluminum Alloys " is due for publication.

Research Interests:

Deformation of metals, polymer and composites, concentrating on the relationship between processing, structure and properties.
